Physical systems are often composed of different elements all working together, such as pneumatics, mechanics, hydraulics, electrics or control systems. Interactions between multi-disciplinary systems and complex 3D systems can be difficult to manage in a single modeling software package. This is why users can connect AMESim to specialized 1D-3D CAE Simulators. For different purposes and applications, LMS Imagine.Lab AMESim can be coupled with various external software, such as CAE, CAD, CAM, FEA/ FEM, or CFD. Co-Simulation provides a link between LMS Imagine.Lab AMESim and CAE tools with pre-defined setups. This coupling ensures a good dialog between the tools and the simulation software. Note that both time and frequency domain are supported by this combined approach, with the 1D/ 3D CAE software involved simultaneously. All analysis tools for a structural and system analysis are still compatible when the AMESim models are connected to the CAE software. It is still possible to easily perform user-defined batch runs, parameter studies, or optimizations. Product Description Finite Element Analysis ( FEA) With the FEA Import or Co-Simulation, AMESim users can connect model description of their mechanical structures from their usual FEA software to AMESim. With this functionality AMESim allows users to check coupling between the mechanical structures and any kind of connected non-linear actuator ( hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, magnetic, piezoelectric … ) . All of this can be of course combined with control strategies included in AMESim. Multi-Body Systems ( MBS) AMESim can be connected to specialized multi-body packages, such as LMS Virtual.Lab Motion. The multi-body interfaces provided by LMS Imagine make it simple to model each sub-system directly in the appropriate environment and perform combined simulation using either model export facilities or co-simulation. Computational Fluid Dynamics ( CFD) AMESim can be connected to third-party CFD software, such as Fluent® , Ansys® , CFX® , StarCD® or Eole® to refine models or obtain more realistic boundary conditions, especially for transient dynamics. Coupling AMESim with CFD can also be a good way of calibrating 1D models.
